MCCABE STEPS DOWN: FBI Director resigns as vote on FISA memo looms

WASHINGTON, D.C. — FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe announced Monday that he will be stepping down immediately.

The news comes as McCabe, who The Daily Beast reports is named in a controversial FISA memo, has found himself increasingly under fire.

According to the Beast report, McCabe, former FBI Director James Comey, and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein are each named in the “shocking” FISA abuse memo which allegedly details unlawful surveillance practices carried out on then-presidential candidate Donald Trump and his associates during the campaign of the 2016 presidential election.

“A controversial Republican memo alleging surveillance abuse specifically names FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein along with former FBI Director James Comey,” the Beast report states (https://www.thedailybeast.com/doj-warns-that-releasethememo-would-be-extraordinarily-reckless?ref=home).

“Capitol Hill sources on both sides of the aisle say the memo’s release is only a matter of time. And when it comes out, these current and former officials — all GOP bêtes noires — are likely to face even more criticism from the right over their involvement in FBI counterintelligence work.

Republicans, including Trump himself, have spent months attacking McCabe and Comey while special counsel Robert Mueller has been investigating Team Trump’s connections to the Kremlin. Rosenstein put that probe in place—a move Trump has derided as a witch hunt. […]

Rep. Chris Collins, a New York Republican, told The Daily Beast that Nunes has told Republicans his staff spent months putting the memo together.”

According to White House sources, President Trump was briefed on McCabe’s intent to vacate his role Monday morning. McCabe became Trump’s acting director of the FBI in May after the president fired then director James Comey.

The president has made no secret of his mistrust of McCabe since he was appointed to his role, tweeting on several occasions that he believed the FBI colluded to protect former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton from prosecution for illegally storing classified materials on a private server in her home during her tenure as Secretary of State.

“How can FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, the man in charge, along with leakin’ James Comey, of the Phony Hillary Clinton investigation (including her 33,000 illegally deleted emails) be given $700,000 for wife’s campaign by Clinton Puppets during investigation?” Trump tweeted in December of 2017.

McCabe, who was already expected to step down in early 2018 upon becoming eligible for his pension, reportedly told no one of his intent to depart his role ahead of schedule.

The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence is expected to take a vote Monday afternoon to decide whether or not the FISA memo should be released to the public.

TICK TOCK HILLARY: DOJ reopens investigation into Clinton email scandal

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton may not be off the hook just yet in regard to her handling of classified emails.

According to a report published Thursday by The Daily Beast (https://www.thedailybeast.com/justice-department-looking-into-hillary-clintons-emails-again), the failed Democratic presidential candidate is once again under investigation for unlawfully storing classified government emails on a private server located in her home office.

As published in The Beast’s report, the focus of this new examination, according to the Daily Beast:

How much classified information was stored on Clinton’s private server?
Who aided Clinton in transferring that information into an unclassified area, and how?
What did Obama era FBI agents know about the matter and what, if any, immunity agreements were struck between the Justice Department and Clinton’s former aides?

The probe by Attorney General Jeff Sessions is reportedly being reopened at the urging of President Donald Trump, who has made no secret of his desire to see his former campaign rival brought to justice.

“Many people in our Country are asking what the ‘Justice’ Department is going to do about the fact that totally Crooked Hillary, AFTER receiving a subpoena from the United States Congress, deleted and ‘acid washed’ 33,000 Emails? No justice!” Trump tweeted on December 2.

Also being investigated, according to the report, is top former Clinton aide, Huma Abedin.

“Crooked Hillary Clinton’s top aid, Huma Abedin, has been accused of disregarding basic security protocols. She put Classified Passwords into the hands of foreign agents. Remember sailors pictures on submarine? Jail! Deep State Justice Dept must finally act? Also on Comey & others,” the president tweeted on January 2.

The decision to reopen the investigation into Clinton comes in the aftermath of Trump accusing key members of the FBI of being part of the deep state after seemingly giving Hillary Clinton a pass after their initial review.

“People should be encouraged that the new leadership at the Justice Department is actually interested in a nonpartisan, above-board Justice Department that treats every citizen equally,” Mark Corallo, former DOJ spokesman for the George W. Bush administration, told the Daily Beast.

“It’s about time they’re doing a review of this whole mess.”

Hannity withdraws support for Roy Moore; ‘Explain yourself or exit Senate race’

NEW YORK, NY — Fox News host Sean Hannity turned the tables on embattled Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore of Alabama, telling viewers during his Tuesday night show that Moore has “24 hours” to explain conflicting answers to the sexual misconduct allegations against him or withdraw from the race.

“You must immediately and fully come up with a satisfactory explanation for your inconsistencies,” Hannity demanded. “You must remove any doubt. If he can’t do this, then Judge Moore needs to get out of this race.”

Hannity’s sudden change of heart toward the Alabama judge comes after a number of sponsors withdrew advertising from Hannity’s nightly news program in response to his initial support of Moore, who has been accused by multiple women of sexual assault.

Moore has steadfastly denied the claims and insists the allegations against him are no part of a “witch hunt” to bring him down.

“How do you know if it’s true? How do we — what’s true? What’s not true? How do you ascertain the truth? What happens when it’s 38 years later?” Hannity asked last week on his radio show after interviewing Moore.

But Hannity says he’s since spotted some glaring inconsistencies in Moore’s story that concern him.

“Between this interview that I did and the inconsistent answers. Between him saying ‘I never knew this girl,’ and then that yearbook comes out,” Hannity said on Tuesday night’s show, referencing a yearbook produced by one of Moore’s accusers which appears to show his signature. “You must remove any doubt. If you can’t do this, then Judge Moore needs to get out of this race.”

Hannity is not the only big name Conservative who seems to be losing trust in Moore.

According to a report by The Daily Beast (https://www.thedailybeast.com/steve-bannon-and-allies-have-second-thoughts-about-roy-moore-sources-say), Steve Bannon, who has been one of Moore’s most vocal defenders in regard to the controversy, allegedly told insiders that he too has developed doubts.

The Breitbart chairman said, “I will put him in a grave myself,” if he determines that Moore was lying to him about the numerous accusations, a source close to Bannon told The Beast.

Calls for comment to Moore’s representative were met with “no comment”.
