COMEDY LEGEND JERRY LEWIS DEAD AT 91

LAS VEGAS, NV — Entertainment icon Jerry Lewis has died, the famous comedian’s spokesperson has confirmed.

“He passed away at 9:30 this morning at home, peacefully with family and close friends by his side after a brief illness. They are devastated,” Candi Cazau said in a statement.

He was 91.

Lewis, best known for his quintessential roles in comedies such as “The Bellboy” (1960) and “The Nutty Professor” (1963), is also know for the millions of dollars he raised millions for charities and as chairman of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The “King of Comedy” hosted a live Labor Day broadcast of the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon for 44 years.

Lewis “had a heart of gold,” said Cazau. “He still had things he wanted to do. We had performance dates set up for him in the future. He was always like the energizer bunny.”

“He had a great life. He was a huge inspiration to so many people. It’s a huge loss,” she added.

Lewis first gained fame for his one of a kind comedy-and-music act with singer Dean Martin. When the pair parted ways in the mid-1950s, Lewis went solo where he went on to legendary status in the industry.

News of Lewis’ passing spread like wild fire on social media and celebrities and fans alike were quick to share their shock and grief.

“Jerry Lewis! Oy! Another comic legend gone. What an amazing talent and philanthropist. A long, well lived life!#RIPJerryLewis,” tweeted SNL alumni John Lovitz.

“Jerry Lewis loved his country & helped it enormously. I occasionally spoke with him about policy-he was on it, very engaged despite his age,” tweeted conservative news personality Bill O’Reilly.

“Jerry Lewis was an angel to me. Loved him & will never forget what he did for me during one of the worst times in my life. RIP, Love Roe,” tweeted fellow Hollywood icon Rose Marie.

“I believe, in my own way, that I say something on film. I’m getting to those who probably don’t have the mentality to understand what … ‘A Man for All Seasons’ is all about, plus many who did understand it,” Lewis wrote in his 1971 memoir, “The Total Film-Maker”. “I am not ashamed or embarrassed at how seemingly trite or saccharine something in my films will sound. I really do make films for my great-great-grandchildren and not for my fellows at the Screen Directors Guild or for the critics.”

Married twice, Lewis leaves behind a wife, SanDee Pitnick, and 6 children, including musician Gary Lewis. His son Joseph died in 2009.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Campbell, best known for his hits “Southern Nights” and “Rhinestone Cowboy”, won five Grammys, sold more than 45 million records, had 12 gold albums and recorded 75 chart topping hits over the course of his career.

News of the country star’s passing resulted in an outpouring of heartbreak on social media from celebrities who considered Campbell a legend in the country music industry.

“Thank you Glen Campbell for sharing your talent with us for so many years
May you rest in peace my friend. You will never be forgotten,” Charlie Daniels wrote on Twitter.

PAROLE IN JEOPARDY AFTER OJ CAUGHT SQUEEZING HIS JUICE; ACCUSED MURDERER REPORTEDLY CAUGHT PLEASURING HIMSELF IN VIEW OF OTHER INMATES

LOVELOCK, NV — O.J. Simpson, the former football great and one time accused double murderer now serving a 9-33 year prison sentence for kidnapping and burglary, may have jacked up his chances at parole after being caught masturbating within public view.

Simpson, who was famously acquitted of killing his ex wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman only to be found responsible for the brutal slayings by a civil court jury, is expected to face the Nevada parole board on July 20. Although many legal analysts had predicted that he was likely to receive parole based on good behavior, this latest slip up may have caused the now 70 year old to lose his last chance at freedom.

While celebrity website TMZ reports the story can not be authenticated (http://www.tmz.com/2017/07/19/o-j-simpson-masturbating-prison-parole-hearing/), other news sites are claiming sources inside the prison have confirmed the apparent violation.

According to the New York Post (http://nypost.com/2017/07/19/o-j-s-parole-was-almost-derailed-by-a-cookie/), ‘The Juice’ was allegedly caught fondling his fruit in his cell, which is in plain view of other inmates. The act of self passion was reportedly discovered by a female prison guard as she was on patrol.

“O.J. is facing a disciplinary hearing after being written up for masturbating in his prison cell,” a prison source told The Daily Mail (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4710666/OJ-Simpson-caught-masturbating-cell-impact-parole.html). “He was caught by a female corrections officer making her normal rounds,” the source told The Daily Mail. “While it’s not the most serious charge to be written up for in prison, it’s serious enough that any potential parole date may be delayed or his parole denied altogether.”

Simpson has served nearly nine-years of a 33-year sentence for a 2008 conviction for kidnapping and robbery. According to prosecutors, Simpson and members of his entourage confronted a pair of memorabilia dealers who were in possession of Simpson items at the Palace State Hotel and Casino on September 13, 2007 and held the men at gunpoint as they forcibly took the items back.

Simpson was sentenced to 33 years behind bars after a jury found him guilty of all ten counts with which he was charged on October 3, 2008 – exactly 13 years to the day after the B-list movie actor and Hertz spokesperson was acquitted of the murders of ex-wife Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman.

No other arrests were ever made in the Brown-Goldman killings.

WILL ‘THE JUICE’ BE SET LOOSE? OJ SIMPSON PAROLE HEARING SET FOR JULY

LOVELOCK, NV — A parole hearing to determine whether or not O.J. Simpson will soon again become a free man has been scheduled for July.

According to a spokesperson for the Nevada Department of Corrections, Simpson, who is serving a nine-to-33-year sentence for kidnapping, armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, will face a parole board on July 20.

Simpson was convicted of the multiple felonies after prosecutors say he tried to steal pieces of his own sports memorabilia from a collector at gunpoint. During his 2008 sentencing hearing, Simpson claimed he was trying to take back family heirlooms and other personal items that had been stolen from him and that he did not know the associates who accompanied him during the heist were armed.

Aside from his history as a former football star and B-list movie actor, Simpson is best known for being accused of viciously murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Brown- Simpson and her friend, Ronald Goldman outside Brown-Simpson’s Los Angeles condo on June 12, 1994.

The subsequent trial, dubbed at the time as “the trial of the century” turned into what many legal analysts referred to as a “media circus” as Simpson’s defense team worked to distract jurors from what prosecutors claimed was a “mountain of evidence” by focusing on race relations within the city that were still simmering after the L.A. riots.

The parole board is expected to consider several factors in deciding whether to release Simpson, Nevada defense attorney Dan Hill told CNN.

“Simpson’s age, the fact that he was given parole on the first sentencing batch, weigh in his favor,” Hill said. “So does the fact that he was by all accounts a model prisoner, as does any acceptance of responsibility for his actions.”

Simpson, who will turn 70 in July, was acquitted in the double murders of Brown and Goldman, but was later found responsible for the killings by a civil jury. He is currently being held at Lovelock Correctional Facility, a medium-security prison in the Nevada desert.

If granted parole, the former Heisman trophy winner will be released in October. If denied, commissioners will decide Simpson’s fate at the next parole board meeting, which could be as many as five years away.

Aside from his recurring role as star of the 007 saga, Moore was also known for starring television roles in “The Persuaders” and “The Saint”.

Moore’s final film appearance was a supporting role in “The Carer” (2016), about an aging and ailing British actor (Brian Cox).

In addition to his fame as an actor, Moore also served with honors in the British military. He was drafted during the final year of World War II, serving as a second lieutenant in the Royal Army Service Corps. After the war he left for the United States in 1953 where he found fame in show business.

During a 2014 interview with NPR, Moore, speaking of a prior battle with cancer, said that he had no fear of death because he believed in an afterlife.

“My attitude about death is, going into the next room, and it’s a room that the rest of us can’t get into because we don’t have the key,” he said. “But when we do get the key, we’ll go in there and we’ll see one another again, in some shape or form, or whatever.”

“With the heaviest of hearts, we must share the awful news that our father, Sir Roger Moore, passed away today. We are all devastated,” Moore’s children, Deborah, Geoffrey and Christian, said in a statement on Twitter (https://twitter.com/sirrogermoore/status/867005447018086400).

“Thank you Pops for being you, and being so very special to so many people. The love with which he was surrounded in his final days was so great it cannot be quantified in words alone,” the statement continued. “We know our own love and admiration will be magnified many times over, across the world, by people who knew him for his films, his television shows and his passionate work for UNICEF (a charitable organization) which he considered to be his greatest achievement. Our thoughts must now turn to supporting Kristina [Tholstrup, his wife] at this difficult time.”

In a separate statement, fellow Unicef ambassador and actor Ewan McGregor said: “Thank you, Roger, for having championed so tirelessly the rights of all children for the last 26 years. You’ve shown that we all have the power to make a change to the lives of the most vulnerable children.”

In recognition of his charity work, Moore was knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 2003.

“Her Majesty said I’d been involved with charities for a long time, but she supposed that people will always call me 007,” Moore said of the honor. “I said that I didn’t mind because I was paid money for it!”

Moore will be buried in Monaco after a private ceremony in accordance with his wishes, his children said.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
