POTUS: ‘How the Hell’ Is Bruce Ohr Still Working at the DOJ?

WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump on Wednesday upped his attack on government lawyer Bruce Ohr one day after Ohr was grilled by two Republican-led House committees investigating actions carried out by the Justice Department ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

Ohr has recently become the latest target of Trump’s efforts to undermine special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation due to his relationship with Christopher Steele, the former British spy that Fusion GPS hired to produce a now discredited dossier alleging links between Trump and Moscow.

“How the hell is Bruce Ohr still employed at the Justice Department? Disgraceful! Witch Hunt!” the president tweeted.

Republican leaders have alleged that Ohr, acting on behalf of Trump’s 2016 presidential election rival Hillary Clinton and opposition research firm Fusion GPS, passed along Steele’s information to the FBI, even after the bureau had terminated its formal relationship with Steele over media leaks. It was later alleged that the phony dossier was paid for by the Democratic National Committee.

“I don’t know if it’s improper but I want to know who at DOJ knew and it certainly looks like he continued to meet with Mr. Steele after the FBI had terminated their relationship with Mr. Steele,” Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, told Fox News in advance of the Tuesday hearing.

Through the course of the investigation, it was recently revealed that Ohr’s wife Nellie worked for Fusion GPS as a Russian specialist and did research that helped to create the dossier.

Congressional investigators are reportedly mulling over whether or not to interview Ohr’s wife over allegations she intentionally hid payments from federal officials.

When asked by reporters whether or not he still intends to revoke Ohr’s clearance, Trump responded: “I think Bruce Ohr is a disgrace, I suspect I’ll be taking it away very quickly. For him to be in the Justice Department and doing what he did, that is a disgrace.”
