’13 ANGRY DEMOCRATS’: Trump steps up attack on Mueller, investigative team

Washington, D.C. — President Donald Trump on Tuesday unleashed a full-on verbal attack against special counsel Robert Mueller, predicting the special counsel and his team will “meddle” in this fall’s midterm elections in order to hurt the chances of Republican candidates.

“The 13 Angry Democrats (plus people who worked 8 years for Obama) working on the rigged Russia Witch Hunt, will be MEDDLING with the mid-term elections, especially now that Republicans (stay tough!) are taking the lead in Polls,” the president wrote. “There was no Collusion, except by the Democrats!”

“Why aren’t the 13 Angry and heavily conflicted Democrats investigating the totally Crooked Campaign of totally Crooked Hillary Clinton,” Trump asked in a follow-up tweet moments later. “It’s a Rigged Witch Hunt, that’s why! Ask them if they enjoyed her after election celebration!”

Minutes later, a seemingly exasperated Trump wrote that he would be refocusing his attention to key policy issues instead of the Russia investigation.

“Sorry, I’ve got to start focusing my energy on North Korea Nuclear, bad Trade Deals, VA Choice, the Economy, rebuilding the Military, and so much more, and not on the Rigged Russia Witch Hunt that should be investigating Clinton/Russia/FBI/Justice/Obama/Comey/Lynch etc.,” he tweeted.

The president often refers to Mueller, who was charged with investigating possible collusion between Trump’s campaign and Russia’s government one year ago, as a Democrat, although records show him to be a registered Republican.

Democrats have 18 seats up for reelection in the Senate this fall. Although Republicans only stand to lose 6, Democrats only need to win two additional seats to get a majority.

Trump has repeatedly denied colluding with Russia to influence the outcome of the 2016 presidential election and has frequently criticized the FBI and other investigative agencies over their efforts to scrutinize his campaign.
