WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump on Wednesday took aim at the mainstream media over what he called a “double standard” when it comes to reporting the news.

Calling out his former presidential rival Hillary Clinton’s well documented collaboration with foreign governments in her own right, Trump bashed the media for playing favorites when it comes to divulging facts.

“@WashTimes states ‘Democrats have willfully used Moscow disinformation to influence the presidential election against Donald Trump,’” Trump tweeted. “Why aren’t the same standards placed on the Democrats. Look what Hillary Clinton may have gotten away with. Disgraceful!”

The president’s tweet relates to a reported meeting ( between a DNC consultant and officials at the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington, D.C., last year during which information was allegedly exchanged in an effort to sway the outcome of the 2016 presidential election.

Trump’s comments follow those of Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders who also referenced the apparent discrepancy in regard to media neutrality during a daily briefing at the White House on Monday.

“If you are looking for an example of a campaign coordinating with a foreign country or a foreign source, look no further than the DNC which actually coordinated opposition research with the Ukrainian Embassy,” said Sanders. “This is not an accusation. That is an on-the-record action that they took.”

The president’s outrage comes after days of controversy surrounding the newly discovered meeting between Trump’s oldest son, Donald Trump, Jr. and a Russian lawyer who was alleged to have Kremlin ties.

Trump, Jr. admits to having met with the woman, who claimed to have dirt on Hillary Clinton which may have proved useful during the election, but says the meeting turned out to be fruitless and a waste of time.

Both Trump, Jr. and Trump, Sr have denied any wrongdoing in regard to the meeting.
