WASHINGTON, D.C. — John Boehner unleashed his anger toward President Trump this week, calling the Republican’s first few months in office a “complete disaster”.

“Everything else he’s done [in office] has been a complete disaster,” Boehner said of Trump during a conference in Houston on Wednesday. “He’s still learning how to be president.”

The former Republican house speaker said that although he and Trump have been friends for more than 15 years, he still has difficulty in seeing him as president.

One particular issue that seems to be a thorn in Boehner’s side is the president’s tax reform measures which Boehner dismissed as “just a bunch of happy talk”.

“I was a little more optimistic about it early in the year; now my odds are 60/40,” Boeher said of the proposed tax reform.

Pressed further for his thoughts won whether the president colluded with Russia to influence the outcome of the 2016 presidential election, Boehner said he supported efforts to “get to the bottom” of the allegations.

Despite his criticism of the new president, Boehner shot down calls for impeachment, which have grown in recent weeks over never ending speculation regarding Trump’s ties to Russia as ramblings of “the crazy left-wing Democratic colleagues of mine.”

“Talk of impeachment is the best way to rile up Trump supporters,” he said. “Remember, impeachment is not a legal process; it’s a political process.”

Boehner also stressed that he’s not displeased with everything the president has accomplished thus far. In fact, he said he’s rather impressed with Trump’s handling of international affairs, particularly his aggressive stance toward the terrorism.

Does the former Speaker have presidential ambitions of his own? No, he says. For now, Boehner, best known for his tendency to become teary eyed in public, is enjoying the relative anonymity of being a private citizen.

“I wake up every day, drink my morning coffee and say hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah,” Boehner said. “I don’t want to be president. I drink red wine. I smoke cigarettes. I golf. I cut my own grass. I iron my own clothes. And I’m not willing to give all that up to be president.”
